ROOM 4 – a manifestation of this instability, sound installation

October 1st, 12 pm to 8 pm

October 2nd, 12 pm to 8 pm

@ Wallyard Concept Hostel near Scope BLN

ROOMS TO LET went back to their roots and developed an art work for a hotel room, entitled “a manifestation of this instability”.

In a half year process, they worked on a sound installation for the hotel by converting, transforming and translating the interview material of ROOM 1. Twelve hours sound files were transcribed and edited with different media. After this process the artists printed the texts and worked with the analogue material like in a sculptural process – taking away, adding, assembling and reducing the different parts. The result was a text of selected interview-fragments and breath instructions, which represented the actual essence of the collected contents. This text was spoken by actors and recorded again, to add another layer of abstraction to the content. In cooperation with Sound Designer Sibin Vassilev, ROOMS TO LET transformed the text into a 4-channel site specific sound installation, installed in the hotel room No. 205 in Wallyard Concept Hostel, near Scope. Part of the project was a volatile reflection space in the hotel lobby. The possibility space for questions and ideas concerning individual relations to Europe was developed in cooperation with lecturer and moderator Sybill Schulz.
